Who We Are?
Our MissioN
The Swaziland Human Rights Defenders Network (SHRDN) was founded on April 8, 2022, as an inclusive national platform for human rights defenders (HRDs) in Eswatini. This coalition aims to protect HRDs at risk, safeguard civic spaces both online and offline, and support collective efforts toward the full realization and enjoyment of human rights and protection of HRDs in Eswatini. The strategic plan outlined in this document aims to articulate a clear pathway towards SHRDN’s strategic goals and objectives while providing a protection framework for HRDs. It was developed through a co-creation process facilitated by Advancing Rights in Southern Africa (ARISA), using a democratic participatory methodology, and builds upon previous foundational processes, including a civil society roundtable and a cross-country meetings of frontline HRDs.

SHRDC’s core ideology is built upon its mission, vision, and values, which guide its actions with clarity of purpose and integrity. The coalition is committed to democratic transformation and the protection of human rights. It aims to foster a learning community where staff, board members, volunteers, and partners share insights and develop strategies to achieve its objectives.
